Thank you for your presentation, great ideas & guidance for a class. I recently opened my own studio and am starting after-school classes soon. My main concern is how to finish a project in two hours like the sample piece with the tree and moon, mostly how to paint the background and get it dry enough to do the tree on top in that time?

Why do some artists act like jerks when you ask them about collaborating? Like I just talked to another digital artist about a collaboration and he just asked a bunch of questions that didn't matter, like bruh do you want to make an art piece together or not everything isn't about profit.

I know there’s no straight answer for how to make a living as an artist, but how did you get to the point you’re making a full time + income from your art? My whole life I’ve been told it’s not possible, and now at 40 I wish I had ignored them and taken my art more seriously. My life’s at a fork in the road and I really want to throw myself into art (paintings/crafts/etc.) but wouldn’t know where to start. Have you made a video talking about how you started and progressed into a full time income? I’ll have to check! Thanks for giving me & us hope that it is possible!

Shipping costs is where I get stuck. It’s hard to know what each thing would cost to ship wherever the customer is. Can you just say the cost of the item, PLUS shipping? I guess that would get tricky with possibly not getting paid before you send it…

No, don’t use USPS. Even with insurance in times of losing your package or damage, they’ll deny your claim because as they put it - you have “no proof of value.”

Great info! Thanks so much for sharing! One question... How are you pricing classes these days, as this video is several years old now. In my area, (FL) I think we are pricing our classes to low. One person where I work charges around $28.00 for the paint-n-sip class, and she gives everyone an apron to take home. Maybe it's the local economy driving her prices. We live by the beach so we get a lot of guests from other parts of the country stopping into our shop on any given day.

I have a bunch of stuff i want to sell and am thinking of taking the auction route. But instead of an actual auction, how about just taking offers and 'calling it' when I feel like it? The element of surprise would maybe be enticing and addictive.

Fortunately, I have very supportive people in my life that have witnessed my artistic journey from pen and ink to watercolor to finally becoming a stained glass fanatic selling many of my pieces. But carpel tunnel stopped that. Now I have found fluid art and it’s now my obsession. But, I’m not satisfied with my outcomes and everyone says they’re good! I totally lack in self confidence!!!! Having difficulty pricing 4x4 Acrylic pet portraits

I taught art at the college level. I had students buy their own materials. That way they learn to navigate an art store , and can look at the varieties of materials available. I always provided a check list for the students.

Need help please==How did you create that grid of all your pieces? I know how to setup a folder with each photo & add the description info. I assume you created it as an event?

I agree, one's mindset is key. Some people do the best they can, under minimal circumstances. My sales were increasing every year until COVID. Since then nothing. Now will the oil companies increasing their already greedy profit margins, it's next to impossible to travel to art shows. Many people really are doing their best. It doesn't stop me, it just makes me re-think how I can expand my horizons. NEVER GIVE UP. (Yet, keep your day job.)
